New jute mills are on build by private investment in and near of Phultala Upazila in Khulna district, though the Governmental jute mills are gradually being stopped for loss. Four billions have been invested in this area with in a few years.
According to investors, the quality of our jute products is still alive in Word. Using this welfare, the small and middle investors in this sector do not think it so difficult to raise in a profitable level. So, the local investors think it safe to invest in the sector.
As like, Supper Jute Mills Ltd. Stars its mission in Phultala since November, 2006, with a view to producing 22,000 tons jute products annually. At present, 40 tons jute cotton is being produced in the factory daily. Md. Firoz Ahammed, Managing Director of the mills, said the rate of production from 40 to 6o tons will be increased per day in the begging of the coming year. He added 100% cotton produced here is also being Exported. It has already been exported in many countries, VIZ. Poland, Misor, Duby etc. China has recently showed their interests to import 100 tons jute cottons from the factory. ‘I invested only 84 core primarily. Now amount of their investment is about over 100 core.’- said Firoz Ahammad.
This mill resembles Akij Jute Mills Ltd. in Nowapara in profit after investment. It was established in 1995. It is known through the mills that the amount of investment of its is at present over 3, 00 core. 70/75 tons jute product is produced here per day.
More than 5,000 people are employed in these mills. A new mills, named Fultala Jute Mills Ltd., also being build near it. Official think that they will be able to produce in the end of the year, 2007. Two lock people will be engaged here.
